Hi, I'm Heather Kelley with AmeriTech Air Conditioning and Heating. This video covers what to do when your thermostat is on but your AC isn't cooling. The steps here will help you with basic troubleshooting to restore your system's cooling. If your air conditioning isn't cooling, you may notice it's suddenly warm or humid in your home. The first thing to do is go to your thermostat and check the settings. Make sure the fan mode is set to AUTO and the system heat/cool mode is set to COOL. If your thermostat is set to HEAT, simply adjust it to COOL and your air conditioner should begin cooling again. If your thermostat display shows "emergency heat," please call us so we can schedule a service call to correct the problem. Otherwise, continue to the next troubleshooting step. Notice there are two temperature displays. The first, typically on the left, is your current temperature. The second, typically on the right, is the set desired temperature. If the current temperature on the left is lower than the set desired temperature, your system should not be running - this is normal operation. If you prefer a cooler temperature, manually adjust the thermostat to the desired setting. If the current temperature is more than 3 degrees higher than the set temperature, adjust the set temperature down 3 to 5 degrees. Wait 15 minutes to see if the system begins to blow cold air again. If the system does not begin to blow cold air again, we recommend resetting the breakers. Steps to reset your breakers are in the "Resetting the Breakers" video.
